Casa de la Aduana
★ 4.3 (52 reviews)
Casa de la Aduana is much more than a historic building in the heart of Puerto de la Cruz. Built in 1620 by the Franchy family, this mansion is the oldest surviving civil building in the city and holds the most references to the port's foundation as a tourist destination. Its name comes from its former function as a customs house, where goods transit was managed and monitored for centuries.
After its restoration by the Tenerife Island Council in 1999, Casa de la Aduana has found new life as a cultural center and art space. Today it houses the tourist information office, the Eduardo Westerdahl Contemporary Art Museum, and various local craft exhibitions. Visitors particularly praise its beautifully preserved interior wooden balcony and the sea views enjoyed from its windows. It also features a shop selling typical Canarian products, attended with that warm and professional service that those who stop by greatly appreciate.
